When I started hiking over a decade ago in Yosemite National Park and the Emigrant Wilderness, I bought hiking gear that I could afford. However, I soon learned that quality gear is very important for an enjoyable hike. I now wish I had used my limited money to buy quality gear instead of quantity.

In the links below you can research gear from manufacturers that make the best gear or buy from companies that sell the good stuff.

Please read gear stories at Wilderness Experiences.
